Recently Jenn and I took a well deserved and needed trip down the coast to San Francisco. We took the scenic route to the Bay Area with stops in Vancouver then Edmonton. Thats the beauty of living in Rupert, You fly to Vancouver which is half way to San Fran and then all the way back north to Edmonton. When we did finally arrive we got our shuttle to our hotel by the airport. The next morning we took the shuttle back to the airport so I could get some sunglasses..........not really but I did find a sweet pair of free Revo sunglasses on our shuttle. We took the BART(Bay area rapid transit) to our hotel which was in Fisherman's Wharf. Our hotel was amazing and everyday from 5pm-6pm the was free California wine and Beer which we took advantage of. The sites in San Fran were incredible with the highlight being the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. There were lots of tourists and locals alike walking the bridge as it was clear blue skies and warm......however when we reached the halfway point of the bridge some fog had rolled in and you literally couldnt see 20 feet in front of you. So we circled back and when we reached the beginning the fog was gone again. Needless to say a spectacular site. Alcatraz was very interesting and eerie. Knowing the kinds of inmates that had once been imprisoned there where we were now standing was very creepy. The 45min audio tour was very well done. I was relcutant to do the audio tour because I thought it may be boring, however it was done by former correctional officers and former inmates. At one point I decided to yell "I drive a Volvo, a beige one" as it was the only quote from "The rock" i could remember. Then a seagull pooped in the ladies hair right in front of me...........it was aweosme!!!
We also saw the painted ladies from the Full House intro and drank some Guiness on St.Patty's day.
After seeing the sights and shopping Jenn and I decided to go walking around and we came across one of the greatest sites ever....a dude with a dog that had a cat on its back and on the cats back were a couple of mice and they were walking down the street.(google : mouse on cat on dog). Apparently hes quite a popular guy.
However our trip had to end and we were forced back to Rupert because of our jobs. And thankfully the weather was crap when we returned. It was cold windy and snowy the whole time. For some reason I love hearing how bad the weather is while Im gone, almost as much as I enjoy midget tossing.
Hmmmmm, yep thats all I have to say
